Exploring North Carolina

One of the challenges of moving to unknown territory is not knowing what to do for fun. People kept telling us there is a lot to do around here, but we just couldn't find it... We didn't know where to look. I still have yet to find a bowling alley, but that's a different story. I am talking about outdoor, free-ish things. I have to be outdoors in the summer time, even if the rest of the population is indoors trying to escape the blazing heat.

Last Saturday we decided to get out and do something about this. Jake asked around work and found out there were trails and beaches at Jordan Lake about 20 min away. So we went. We drove around for a while trying to find some sort of information to direct us where to go. We finally found the perfect spot.

We hiked 5.5 miles in 102 degrees 70 percent humidity and loved every minute of it!

We stopped in the middle of the hike to cool off in the lake, which really didn't help much, but it was definitely fun! I think it was hotter in the water than it was out.

We also enjoyed some nice dry sandwiches. You can tell by my face how delicious it is.

We had a great day together. He was such a good sport even though he couldn't keep up with me on the hike.......

After our adventure at Jordan Lake we showered up and went to the movies. Theaters easy to find here..

Is this making you want to come visit?? It's perfect weather in the fall, so you just let us know when to expect you...
